Collaborate, Innovate, Educate: Building the Future of MSE Together
Please note: there is no requirements to submit a paper – just an abstract is necessary (300-500 words). However, for those who are interested, there is an opportunity to publish your paper in Journal of Chemical Education. Find out more information here.
Session Themes
The Scientific Committee would like to invite participants to share abstracts for oral or poster presentations related to Materials Education under the following session themes:
Innovations in Materials Science Education
• Preparing students for the working world
• Preparing student to work effectively in teams
• Best practices in educating non-MSE majors in MSE courses
• Interdisciplinary education that includes MSE topics
AI and Machine Learning for MSE Education and Industry
• The ways that MSE education is incorporating AI/ML in materials in core courses, curriculum design, communication, minors, certificates, and other aspects of MSE education at the bachelors and graduate levels
• The ways that industry is incorporating artificial intelligence in their work towards manufacturing, process modeling, logistics, and design
High Impact Practices in MSE Education
• Hands-on, project-based learning
• Incorporating research experiences in MSE
• Peer-to-peer education in maker spaces
• Best practices for maker spaces
• Hands-on training in MSE: small projects for big learning
In addition to a general call for posters around any MSE education topics, we specifically would like submissions for posters that address expanding enrollment, outreach, and awareness of MSE:
• K-12 outreach
• Transfer student programs/recruitment
• Engaging with the larger community
